Stefano Versolato was born in 1976 in Vicenza, where he graduated in double bass in 1997 under the guidance of Maestro Claudio Bortolamai.
In 1997-98, he perfected his skills with Maestro Niek de Groot at the AFOS advanced orchestral training course of the A. Toscanini Foundation in Parma. With Maestro Bortolamai, he obtained a second level diploma at the Conservatorio "Dall'Abaco" in Verona in 2010. In 2015, he attended the Masterclass at the Santa Cecilia Music School in Portogruaro with Christine Hoock.
His major professional experiences include performing with the orchestra during the 1997-98 season at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, and with the orchestra during the 1998 season at the Teatro Comunale in Treviso. He collaborated with the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento in 2002, and with the Orchestra da camera di Padova e del Veneto in 2003 and 2014. In 2000 he taught double bass at the Istituto Universitario de Bellas Artes in Colima, Mexico.
From 1997 to 2015, he was the double bass player with the Orchestra of the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza and the Orchestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta. He has collaborated with leading conductors including Giancarlo Andretta, Aldo Ceccato, and Massimo De Bernart. He premiered Azio Corghi's "Fero dolore" in 2005. Among his many recordings, he has recorded music by Philippe Hersant for the Brilliant Classic label. He has collaborated with the Orchestra delle Terre Verdiane for several years.
He teaches double bass at the Liceo Musicale “A. Pigafetta” in Vicenza.
